Robert Snoep, Patent Attorney

Having obtained his Bachelors degree in Chemical and Process Engineering Robert began his career as an engineer working for on one of the old ‘Think Big’ petrochemical plants. He later completed a Masters degree in Engineering Management (MEM), after which he worked in technical management roles in the concrete, nutraceuticals and wine industries.

In 2001, Robert turned his focus to intellectual property law and joined a recognised IP specialist firm as a patent attorney and quickly progressed to become a Partner in the firm.

He left the firm to establish CreateIP in 2009 with the aim to provide customers with a fresh and more personal approach to managing their IP requirements. With his ambition to help Kiwi companies protect and prosper from their ideas both locally and overseas, a number of key customers quickly followed, including, Comvita and Hubco Automotive. Since then, Phil & Teds, Mountain Buggy, Pharmazen, and a number of other companies have also chosen the CreateIP approach.

Robert is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys, Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia, member of the Royal Society, member of the Canterbury and Nelson Nutraceuticals Cluster, member of the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce and member of Export New Zealand. He is also an Adjunct Fellow and guest lecturer of the Master of Engineering Management programme.

Robert is an avid mountain biker and surfer, and a proud father of two.
