We hope everyone is recovering and getting back on track after the devastating earthquake of February 22nd. While our homes have suffered some serious damage we find ourselves thankful and fortunate that our families are alive and well.

Robert will be speaking at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Intellectual Property Firms (AIPF) in Chicago September 18-20. AIPF is an international association of independent specialty law firms that devote a majority of their practice to patent law, trademark law and copyright law.

The theme of this year’s event, “Enhancing IP Rights in a Time of Erosion” is highly relevant in the New Zealand context. Thank you for all of the kind messages of support received recently from you and our wider CreateIP family.

I am relieved to say that the CreateIP team and our family members are safe and well, although we all have tales to tell about the quake.

Personally our house has taken a hard hit – livable but major structural damage including a one inch crack that effectively splits the house into two parts. The surrounding roads are in terrible shape with major liquefaction, cracks and sink holes everywhere. In the first issue we introduced to you our Christchurch office. Since then we have been joined by our lovely PA Chelsea Lucking, and we are now advertising for another Patent Attorney.
